We've decided to observe Lent this year. We don't do it every year, but sometimes we feel like participating even though as Southern Baptists we were not raised doing so. The first time we did Lent we gave up red meat. The second time was chocolate. This year we've decided to forgo cheese. This is going to be toughie.

D and I celebrated Mardi Gras today. We ate dinner from the case at Whole Foods. Blackened Salmon with Cajun Sweet Potato Fries. They had smaller sections of a King Cake for sale so we picked that up as well. Thank goodness, I don't see how we could ever eat a whole one! It was okay, but I'd rather have something chocolate.

Happy Mardi Gras! Since we were all recovering, I didn't make jambalaya as usual. Instead we had French bread pizza. Hey, it's almost French!
And good luck on giving up cheese!
