4.17.2011

Our program last night went so well that I'm worried this afternoon and tonight will go horribly wrong to make up for it. I've come to the conclusion that I dislike photographs that capture me singing... especially if they're on Facebook!

4.1.2010

Been struggling with my sinuses for about a week now, in my ears mostly. Each ear is ringing - loudly - and in two different pitches. So annoying. Finally resorted to taking Sudafed and, as usual, now I can't sleep. When I'm restless Elora picks up on it, starts meowing and snuggling for company and wanting to play. She won't even let me try to doze. Of course, as I write this, she is snoozing at my feet. Go figure.

Last night we had a good (two hour!) Upper Room service at FBC. RH changed monologues this year. I was so used to him throwing a chair, but as he played Judas this time, he threw silver coins instead. Still dramatic but much easier on the set! Our deacon gave us a super-speedy communion - the fastest and simplest Lord's Supper I have ever observed. Maybe he was nervous.

I was not nervous when D did the prelude, for a change. I usually get as much stage fright as he does but I prayed over him before he started, particularly for his lungs and his mental state. He did very well on The Old Rugged Cross (with RK on piano).

9.20.2009

This afternoon was the first matinee performance of Titanic: the Musical. D has been carpooling with WR, who also plays in the orchestra at church. His wife, B, kept me company on our "double date". It's so nice to have another orchestra-wife to sit with. I get so lonely by myself. The orchestra did a great job! But my favorite instrumental performance was not by an instrument in the pit. When the ship sinks the piano flies across the stage. It's very dramatic! D got to talking of the Vasa, because the Vasa and the Titanic do have some things in common. It turns out that the bass player is married to a Swede and his sister-in-law also lives in Malmo. It's a small world! My only disappointment is that the Titanic exhibit did not get clearance from the fire marshal to open so we didn't get to see it.

7.19.2009

All last week D took half-days at work so that he could teach the kids at the Creative Arts Camp at church. Tonight I was able to watch his kids play bells. I think they sounded better than the ensemble I'm in! He did a very good job with them, I'm so very proud.

My Life is in You, Lord by FBC S'ville Orchestra

(video above)
A few weeks ago D and I went to see what was left over at the Circuit City in G'ville that is going out of business. We purchased a new digital camera with our tax refund. It was a display model and we got it at a great price. It has video and audio functionality so I tried it out Sunday morning in church. I think I did fairly well; I braced it against the pew to reduce the shake. If you look at D you can't tell hardly at all, but if you watch the organ you can see it. I think the orchestra did a great job! D had to really compress the video in order to upload it to YouTube but it's OK. At least now we can collect the videos to make a digital resume for him.

I'll take down the video bar in a few days so here's a link to it on the YouTube site.
