This morning when the alarm clock went off I was having the most peaceful dream. D and I were on a road trip and we were visiting D's Grandpa B. LRL was there too and another man I didn't know. They were planting flowers in a huge backyard garden. D and I were saying goodbye to the three of them and the third man, the one I didn't know, wasn't a hugger so I just shook his hand. Then I hugged LRL and Grandpa B. D and I were just getting into the car when the alarm rang. It was such a nice dream. I miss Grandpa B. It's nice that those who have already left for heaven can still "visit" with us.

Slept soundly last night, perhaps because D gave me milk and a cookie before bed. A little Tryptophan never hurts. When I woke up I could barely catch a fragment of the dream I was having. I was in a house (not mine) with two other people and I can't remember who they were. There were bears outside the windows. I can't remember if they were brown bears or polar bears or what. I do have the impression that it was cold or snowy outside. The three of us went into the garage and there was a green, hard plastic, high-sided sleigh. It was huge, like the size of a mini-van. We opened the garage door and pushed it out into the street. I went around the side of the house (no clue where the bears went) to the front door and there was a Christmas wreath hung on it. That's all I can remember.
I am almost 200 pages into The Brothers Karamazov and I am loving it! Which is a huge shock to me. I thought it would be drudgery and that I would read it just so I could have a classic literature book on my list for this year, instead of all the modern fluff I tend to read. I was so wrong about it. I've just completed 'book 3' and it was non-stop action and drama. I was actually holding my breath for some of the page turns. I thought I came from a dysfunctional family.... the Karamazovs take the cake. Fyodor is an awful father, awful. I can see why someone knocks him off. Where I'm at in the book he's still alive and I'm ready for him to be dead. I know that's terrible of me to say, but the man is horrid! My favorite brother right now is Aleksei, the baby. Although Dimitri, the eldest is interesting too. I have no affection for Ivan. It's funny, when I was speaking about him to D last night, D said 'Is he the middle child?' I couldn't believe D had pegged him right on. Dostoyevsky has made an impression on me. I'm almost ready to say that I like his writing better than Dumas's, quite a statement for me. We'll see if I still feel that way after I finish the rest of the book.

My dreams woke me around 2:30. They were just too weird. Jessica Alba was chasing me through Wal-Mart. She had super-speed or something. I was looking at workout clothes when I noticed her and after running all over the store, I think I lost her in Shoes. Then I was in a car with D, we were following LRL in his truck. Then I was sitting opposite BBL in a booth and I was eating Cocoa Puffs out of a nearly-empty box. When I got down to the bottom it was just solidified white sugar. I broke off huge chunks of white sugar and crammed it into my mouth. Let's hope that one is not prophetic. I'm trying to figure out what I'm eatting that may be causing all these strange dreams. Maybe the avocados? Took a warm bath but it didn't make me sleepy. I feel wired. I think I'll sit down now with The Brothers Karamazov and see if it can put me back to sleep.

Bizarre dreams again this morning. The first was like a 1950s Sea World. The penguins had hardcase plastic or glass diving suits on. There was also a holographic shark movie being shone, which is really too advanced for 1950s. In the second dream I was lost by myself in an airport (not Atlanta), lots of escalators, and a McDonald's where everyone was ordering Wylie ice tea. They were all very specific, Wylie tea. Is there even such a thing?
For breakfast D and I wanted something special since we'll be spending today apart. I found a recipe in the Flat Belly Diet book for Cherry Chocolate waffles. Yes, this is a diet recipe. We toasted Kashi waffles then added a compote of cherries and chocolate chips on top. They were very good. The Kashi waffles are the grain, the cherries are fruit and the chocolate is a MUFA. Very healthy in the right proportions.
Making some headway in The Brothers Karamazov. It's not as difficult as I thought it would be except that the Russians have way too many patronyms for my taste. That does sometimes interrupt the flow of thought and I have to go back and figure out who he's talking about.

Last night D and I were invited to a Superbowl party. It was basically the same group from the New Year's Eve party but at a different house. I have never watched a Superbowl before, so I was glad that it was an interesting game. Not that I watched much of it. I tried to do what was expected of me and gab with the girls, but I didn't really enjoy that very much. I'm too much of an introvert. I think the highlight of the evening was JT's chili. It was so good. D is already asking me when we're going to make chili again. Soon.
I had the most bizarre dreams this morning. It was like flipping back and forth between TV stations. The first dream was astronauts in space, one of which was George Clooney, and he had saved the other one who was adrift in space. The second dream was a group of penguins following a golf cart around on the grass. The third dream was of BBL driving a new blue car. Weird. Must have been all that party food!
