Vacation 2009: Day One - Sunday, July 26th

D and I woke up around 7AM and packed. Breakfast was vanilla ice cream with peanut butter granola bar chunks and bananas (yum!) We left home about 8:30. Arrived at Wrightsville Beach about 2PM. We're staying at the northern tip of Wrightsville where the river, the inlet and ocean meet. Shell Island used to stand alone but at some point they filled in between Shell Island and Wrightsville Beach.



We arrived a little early so we ate lunch at the Resort's bistro. We had Shrimp Ceviche and Garden Salads.


After lunch we took a stroll on the beach. The sand was hot. I didn't realize how hot it was until we came in and the blisters began to appear on our feet. That has never happened to me before.

We're staying just over the dunes. There's about an acre of sand to cover to get to the water. It's a hike! This is the widest beach I have ever seen.


We took a quick dip in the pool before driving over to Holden Beach for the wedding rehearsal. Then we ate dinner with the M family. It was nearly 11PM before we arrived back at our room. Long day.
