When we returned home after work last night we still did not have electricity. We rode around F.I. to look at the damage. It was amazing. Within a mile of our house we saw a tree across a roof, another tree across a driveway and other trees down in yards. Considering how many trees we have on our property, we were very blessed. According to the weather folks it wasn't a tornado but they do estimate that winds were around 100mph. Here's one article and another.We called Duke Power and they estimated we would have power around 11:30PM. There was even a tree down at church! We were hoping our power would be on after choir practice but it wasn't. In fact, the Duke Power hotline had changed to an estimate of 4AM. The house was hot and stuffy. We opened a few windows and went to bed. Fenimore could hear all the neighborhood dogs (probably barking at the utility crews) so he kept us up most of the night. Our power came back on around 5:15AM this morning. We went about 30 hours without electricity. Our shower this morning was heaven.
